Built for enterprise environments, the J179 features dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with PC passthrough for single-cable desktop deployment. IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 1 support eliminates the need for separate power adapters in most installations. The phone supports up to three expansion modules—JBM24 or JEM24—for environments requiring up to 72 additional programmable keys. Optional J100 Wireless Module adds Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth connectivity for flexible deployment without Ethernet drops.

Compatible with Avaya Aura (SIP or H.323), IP Office 10.1+, and open SIP platforms, the J179 adapts to diverse unified communications environments. Security features include TLS/SRTP encryption support, and the phone offers multi-language support including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and major European languages.
